it is last minute chaos at the new and improved marina & anchorage. the boaters, many local, many from canada and such are impatiently waiting to get back in. it seems like they're circling around like hungry vultures.

the landscape crews are trucking the palm trees back in.

the waterfront walkway/promenade that runs the entire length of the property still isn't finished.

the front porch still isn't finished.

the parking lot still isn't finished.

and of course, the docks still aren't finished....there are crews and crews of construction workers, tile layers, plumbers, electricians, landscapers, pipe layers, painters and dock builders everywhere. it's hard to even walk 10' without getting in someone's way. the sounds of all the machinery is deafening. it's hard to remember when this place was the quiet little haven that it once was.
we're open for business (just the mooring field) on thursday, 2 days away.

the new offices are now finally being wall papered but they haven't even started building the new desks and counters yet. i guess we'll just use card tables and folding chairs....and wing it for a while. tomorrow i'm going out in the new skiff to put the shiny new numbers that i ordered on the mooring balls which have just been professionally inspected and power cleaned. i'm sure it will take me more than one day, probably 2. it's not really much fun since you have to stop at each ball, tie up to it, yank the ball up into the boat and steady it enough so you can put/stick the adhesive numbers on fairly straight and then drop the ball back in the water. actually it's sort of exhausting do this all day long...but somebody has to do it and for some reason i said "oh, i'll do it". ugg. john said he'd help me.

somehow we'll get it together one way or another by thursday, just barely, but enough to start back up again.

to see all our old friends coming back in again will be very cool.
