she got here on wednesday and will be here for about 2 weeks. i think this is the 1st time she has ever flown by herself. aww. they had a wheelchair waiting for her at the gate and john gathered her up and wheeled her down to the baggage claim. they got back to stuart wednesday afternoon and stopped by to visit me at the marina since i had to work that day.

i have a list of various fun things to do while she's here
on the days i don't have to work. thursday i drug them to a rain barrel lecture at the house of refuge out on the island. it was put on by the fsu extension service. sounds boring but i'm really interested in these rain barrels and have been wanting to get one for my little house. it was a really beautiful day out at there, a little breezy but just a great day to be out by the ocean. after the lecture i signed up for one of the barrels.. they sell them at a discount and i'll pick it up this week. these rain barrels are being heavily promoted by the county to help conserve water. i can use it to water the victory garden and i think it might come in handy if we ever have an "issue" such as losing power during a storm or hurricane or our well pump dies... it's a good back up water supply for washing or flushing the toilet. these 55 gallon blue plastic drums can be painted to match your house or whatever. the one in the picture was painted to look like an old barrel. i'm not sure how i'm going to paint mine just yet. maybe like josh's truck...heh heh.
after our journey out to the island we went home, i made sandwiches & fresh fruit smoothies and we ate our lunch
outside in the sunny part of the yard. mom mom then proceeded to take a 3 hour nap. i guess she must have been exhausted.
thursday night we went down to the weekly jensen beach street party, walked around a bit, looked at the artsy stuff for sale, went into some of the little art galleries and then ate dinner at crawdaddy's.
it was typically crowded for this time of year so we had to wait for a bit outside on the bench. our food was yummy as usual.. gumbo, etoufee and warm bread. mmm.

after dinner mom mom felt a little dizzy walking back to the car so she and i sat down on a bench and waited while john went to bring the car around.
today i have to work so mom mom can rest up a bit more. tomorrow, though, i'll be taking her to the downtown stuart art festival and then out to lunch at the key lime cafe so she can have one of her favorite things...key lime pie. i think she will enjoy it. it's going to be another beautiful day, nice and warm and sunny.

as for the rest of time she is here... i think we'll have fun as long as we take it easy. we'll probably go to the beach one day, go out on the boat, go see a movie, do a little shopping, hang out at my marina a little bit and whatever... and of course, make sure she eats well and gets her afternoon naps.
